Sunday - 4 more weeks!

Well we only have 4 more weeks of school!
I love school, I love my job, I love being around the kids.
I love to sleep late, lay by the pool and bead.
Hard choice...
I got a great idea to bead a beaded bezel around broken china ..... sort of like you bead around the stones.
As soon as I can take pictures, I'll post it.
It might work...might not. I thought I'd give it a try.
Wouldn't it be neat to have a necklace made out of vintage china or a piece that was your grandmothers.

Here's a few flowers that are blooming in my yard right now.

Monday....

Another week is here. Jordan won his tennis match Saturday!!
Taylor is working on her art and will soon start art lessons after school.

This is my next beading project. White Glass disks, and blue green seed bead mix.
I have no idea where this one is going, I just like the combination of colors and the large disks compared to the tiny seed beads.I'm waiting for the creativity to hit me in the head or stab me in the finger!!

Saturday

I just listed a new piece on my etsy sight. Here's the picture. This one is called KNOT AFRAID OF COLOR. Talk about a process.. this one started out as a half inch wide peyote strip that I was going to embellish with beads. It never looked right,so I started tying knots with the beaded strip and this was the creation!!

On our way to the tennis courts, hopefully I can get some good shots of my son,Jordan.

THURSDAY - April 12

Change and growth are Good... I am in the process of cleaning out my bead stash, as a result I'm opening a new Etsy shop called PACK RATS DAUGHTER. I am going to sell some of my beads, findings...things that I know that I'm not going to use even though I love them. There are beads that I've bought and thought would look great in a piece but then when I've tried to put it together it didn't work.I've also been amazed at how my taste and talent have changed. I actually started this beading process about 7 years ago. I started with seed beads and making anklets. Then a friend said that she had some old pieces of jewelry from her grandmother....did I want them...I jumped on that one. From there I started collecting beads from flea markets, thrift stores, consignment shops, road side markets... you name it. Family and friends would bring me bags of stuff. I started makeing killer bracelets and selling them for $10.oo. I sold hundreds!!!From there the obsession with learning beading stitches came. Once I "got" the peyote stitch, my whole beading obsession changed. This is all growth and good..so I'm cleaning my bead stash. I'm sure it will take a while. I have set the store up and will add beads as I get them photographed and a description. I'm glad I'm growing and changeing.

Monday - Spring Break is over

This little fellow is Cactus. He is the mascot and class pet for my kindergarten class. I got to frog sit last week while we were on spring break. He decided that he needed to have his picture taken so here he is. He is very social!! He turns beautiful bright green when he is happy, brown when he's sad. Happy to him is warm, fed and kids holding him. During center time the kids will carry him around the room or let him sit on their shoulders. Wouldn't it be nice if all it took to make us happy was warmth, food and someone to talk to. I come close ....just add a few beads,a box of nerds and a cup of coffee and I'm almost there.

Easter Morning...

HAPPY EASTER MORNING!!
Easter is about life, creation, purpose, passion, enthusiasm.
It is about being, about living, not giving up or settling.
It is about always trying.
It is about being who you were created to be and savoring the reality of knowing that there is no one else like you!!
My goal on friday was to make a necklace with the beads shown below. This baby took a mind of its own. I thought I had the thing finished just using 2 colors of pink and 1 color of green seed beads. When I went to hang it on some type of necklace, nothing looked right. It was too prissy to wear with jeans or a t-shirt. I think that a necklace should be able to be worn dressy and casual, the same piece. SO out came the brown and this evolved... I love it ..hope you do. While this was progressing the second necklace hatched out of my head and I had to do it really fast before I forgot it. Many of the same colors but a totally different look and feel. I'll list them on my shop site this evening. Have a blessed and creative day, dawn

Thursday, April 5th

It's our spring break and It's cold outside. In the 50's for the high. The pool is clean and sparkling and looks great, but you'd freeze to death just putting your foot in. My Jewelry goal for the day is to make a necklace to match a bracelet I have been working on. It is freeform peyote (of course it is my favorite thing to do.) I want to make a necklace in the same colors. Check back to see how it goes, I really don't have a plan. I choose these colors because of the Pink Columbine picture that I took. The light pink and mossy green are great together. I also want to take some pictures of somethings that I've finished over the last few weeks. I am babysitting our classroom pet. His name is cactus and he is an Austrialian tree frog. I might use him in some of my jewelry pictures. The kids at school would think that was really cool to see Cactus on the internet. They named him Cactus because our classroom theme this year is Cowboys and Gals.

The Very First

Well this is the very first time I've blogged. I was never good at keeping a diary, although I do journal my prayers! I hope to show my weird creative process here. How all the little beads come together to be a cool piece of jewelry or art.
